Weeds
We just got back from a great trip in Oregon a few days ago. I wrote this post a few days before we left, but blogger has been giving me grief and it was erased. I'll have to do my best to remember what I wrote since so much has changed since then! Also, blogger won't let me move pictures. The picture at hte top is Ellie. Maybe she got into the purple popsicles, maybe John or Eve found a purple marker, maybe we hired Grimace as a nurse maid? Just medicine for thrush. Fortunately we got a prescription for something a little less noticeable after that first treatment. Pretty darn cute and funny, though.
So, we have a bunch of weeds in our yard, but 3 in our house. Here are some updates...
John has become such an endearing older brother, and such a smart kid. He can't get enough of Ellie, says such sweet things to her, and just loves loves loves her. As far as smart, a few things he's said have struck me as pretty intuitive for a 3-year-old. We were in the van and an empty cup was rolling around. He said "That's a circle. It rolls." Being silly, not expecting an answer, I asked "What about a square?" His reply, "No, a square doesn't roll. It flops." I was really impressed with his spacial skills. Also, one night he and Eve were in the tub. I was about to rinse her hair, so I said "Watch your eyes." His prompt response, "Mom, you can't watch your eyes." Again, I wouldn't have expected him to realize that. No actual growth stats on John, but we'll have those in late August. All I know is he's getting bigger all the time!
Eve was a little nervous during her 2-year well visit, but did well. Thank goodness, no shots. I just wrote a long update on Eve (although since then she's developed a rather sophisticated palate...ketchup, ranch, salsa...and a rather large vocabulary). Growth stats are 28.5 lb (75 percentile), and 33.5 in (52 percentile). She isn't as interested in Ellie, but still likes to hold her sometimes and is a bit obsessed with pushing her pacifier in her mouth.
Ellie was 21 in (73 percentile) and 8lb2oz (40 percentile) at her 2 week well check with a 14 in (36 percentile) head circumference. At one month her measurements were 21 in (40 percentile) 9lb 1oz (46 percentile) and head circumference 14.25 (22 percentile). Her length didn't officially change, although she's noticeably larger in her clothes and car seat, so I'm certain it's error in measurement (not hard to imagine if you've seen them measure). At one month she was starting to lift her head, starting to zone in on faces (barely) and starting to have a little more alert time. 2 weeks later, she's started smiling, lifting her head quite well (although she still has no control), started kicking her feet with some power, stretched out quite a bit, started to show interest in toys, started fixating on faces, lights, etc. and grown a TON. She's struggling through her first cold and not enjoying that much, but otherwise doing great. Before the trip she was getting a good 5 hour and 3 hour stretch of sleep at night. We lost that on the trip, but last night she slept from 10:30 to 3:30, then until 6:30. What a sweet girl!
