January was super fun! No snow (which I'm totally cool with), a fun trip (which warrants its own post), and, well, you'll see. But first, for some reason I have some funny random pictures of what Jake decided to wear...
...or not wear. I suppose it was around this time (he potty trained FINALLY as a Christmas present to me. I joked about it, but it actually worked out that way) that he started dressing himself. Not only does he put his clothes on by himself, but he chooses what he'll wear. Things have changed once we moved our room downstairs. He doesn't come in to snuggle with me in the mornings. Instead he wakes up, searches through his drawers for what he wants to wear, and comes down completely dressed. It's a neat trick! He just randomly came downstairs completely dressed one day, and has done it every since. Well, I guess not always completely dressed. For some reason it's a lot harder to convince him to put his clothes back on than to put them on in the first place. He strips from the waist down to go to the bathroom, then often takes quite a while to decide to put himself back together. I actually ran across a picture I took of him wearing a coat and helping Buck cook with his (Jake's) bare bottom. It's as cute as can be, but probably not appropriate for the internet. I like this choice of attire, though. And this is also quite nice. I have to say the girls actually had no part in this...surprisingly.
While we're on the subject of crazy Jake, this is how I found his apple one day. He doesn't eat the peel. I don't know how he managed to get his face in there and clear the flesh out so well without taking the apple slices out of the slicer, but I was impressed and amused.
John's hair keeps getting longer. It was in his face and he couldn't see to play his game, so I made a nice ponytail for him.
Buck had a different idea of how to solve the problem. For the record, John is laughing, not screaming. I'm pretty sure Will is a little concerned, though.SO, our big excitement, other than the trip, was the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!!!!!!! Clemson won the national championship in 1981, but hasn't come close again since. This season was so so so exciting! Going into the National Championship undefeated was pretty amazing! It was on a school night (what's up with that?!) but we told the kids they could stay up anyway.
Everyone pitched in with the preparations.
That's some serious pigs in a blanket rolling going on there!
The game didn't start until bedtime. The countdown was excruciating! We had way too much energy, thus piggy back laps around the house.
We decorated for the tailgate
We had quite a spread for the tailgate (including Clemson cookies that the kids decorated)
The anticipation was almost more than we could handle! John and Eve made it through the whole game...and we lost :( I have to say, it was one of the best football games I've ever seen. Standing on the couch is not permitted in our house, but we had to make an exception because I was just too nervous near the end. What a season for our Tigers!!!!
