Troopers!

If there was ever any doubt, there is none left! Our kids are TROOPERS! We went to Clemson for the football game (TCU, we lost 14-10). We had a class at the zoo, so got there just in time to tailgate a short while, then I took John over to watch the band march down toward the field. He's been looking forward to the game all week. He's still not crazy about crowds or loud noises, so I held him through the "parade", and he was nervous, but he loved it! Police cars, cheerleaders, the tiger (he did NOT want to give him a high 5), the band...tubas and drums, an old race car, and the Clemson song. He thought it was all so cool. I think his favorite came when the fans were following down the hill, though. I was pointing out the crazy orange wigs and such, and he said "look, Mom, kitty cat pants". I saw a lady with leopard print pants. You like those? I asked and he said YES! I wish she had heard. It was hilarious.
So, we went to the game. John and Eve both loved the beginning...especially the balloons. We were in the upper deck, and fortunately Eve (not at all true to her nature) sat calmly in my lap. It so steep up there. I would've been a basket case if she was walking around. John enjoyed most of the first half, then started getting a little antsy. We heard the Clemson song enough for him to learn to spell Clemson (I'm so proud!), and he did really well cheering "Go defense" "Go Parker" ( the QB). We walked around and got supper at half time, and came back into the stadium to find the rain had started. It got heavier and heavier, and was pretty chilly, but the kids still did great. A few plays into the 4th quarter we started to feel like bad parents, so we walked back to the car with our drenched and shivering kids and put some dry clothes on them under a gas station overhang. They were both out by the time we got home. What a fun fun day. They were such troopers and had such a great time. Gotta start them off young, right? I actually was talking to a man that said he started bringing his son when his was 3 or 4, and he's a junior now. He was impressed when I told him John came to his first tailgate at 9 days old!

Lots of Catching Up

WOW, lots of catching up to do, but I'll start slow. I haven't been brave enough to go through the trip pictures yet, and I know others pictures are better, so I'll just hold off on the trip. Suffice it to say it was a FANTASTIC family vacation. OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry...surprisingly awesome for small children, and not so surprisingly awesome for the rest of us), Family BBQ day, out and about in downtown Portland, trolleys, air trams, lots and lots of whirling birds, camping, boating, fishing, berry and peach picking, trains, the zoo, and lots of time with family! Whew! We're still recovering I think.
Anyway, the trip will come later. For now, just a few catch ups. Eve's 3rd tooth on top (on the right) finally popped through last weekend and the one on the left is trying to make an appearance. It's taking them forever! She's turned into quite the little devil, and smiles right through it.
John always complains about going to school, but is LOVING it. I'm so excited that he loves his science class. Who wouldn't. They have a bird, and evidently now a lizard. He's learning about bones right now. I really love his school. On a different note, the kids were already dressed for school, so I was checking email while they played in the play room. After a while I was thinking it was much too quiet...no arguments over trains or anything. I headed upstairs to check on them. Eve was enjoying playing with the train, and John had, wait, let me count...6 bandaids of all shaps and sizes on his shirt. Harmless, so it was pretty funny.
Oh, and yesterday I had them both in the race car grocery cart doing some quick shopping. Fortunately there weren't many people in the store. I probably should've tried harder to quiet them down, but it was too cute and funny. They were both shaking their heads wildly, kicking both feet on the cart and squealing and laughing. They were super loud, but at least they were having fun instead of being loud pitching a fit. They really do enjoy each other's company. They also were cracking each other up yesterday afternoon making faces at each other. So much fun.
