Camping

Over spring break we went camping at Tallulah Falls, GA.  It was crazy cold at night, and a little crazy trying to keep up with everyone, but overall it was tons of fun!  Thank goodness we convinced Grandma to come with us!

What a gorgeous view at the top of the mountain!
We went hiking around a lake somewhat close by.  The kids found the water before we even got Will into the pack.  It's amazing how that just comes naturally.  They found some neat goo with dots in it that we're pretty sure were some sort of fish eggs.

Shortly into the hike we crossed a bridge.  The older 3 hiked together, and Jake and Grandma went at their own pace.  John, Eve, and Ellie wanted to get closer to the creek, which turned into playing in the creek, which turned into going on a side adventure at each bridge, creek, or glimpse of water.  It was so much fun to watch them explore together.  John was such a good leader testing out the path to be sure it was safe for the girls, holding branches aside, and such.  If I had to guess, I'd say that was their favorite part of the whole trip.

Will found the hike to be exhausting.

Buck taught the kids to make banana boats.  If I had to guess I'd say this was his favorite part of the whole trip.  Yummmmm.  It was amazing how much we had to pack to live the simple life for 2 nights, but at some point we might be brave enough to do it again.  I imagine the kids will talk us into it sooner rather than later.
