Partaaaaaaay!

Life is a party at Buckingham Palace, but sometimes we get invited to others. A few weeks ago we went to a roller skate party. Woohoo! As best I can remember, it was my first time roller skating since 5th grade (and I was never very good to begin with). It was John and Eve's first time. We had a blast!Eve did more of a "walk" than a skate, but her balance was amazing! She also did quite well rockin' the side ponytail!
John needed a little more help, and got frustrated a little more easily, but thoroughly enjoyed himself when all the kids resorted to running around in their socks and pulling the adults around on skates. I give him big props, though, for putting the skates back on and giving it another try! I think an adult 80s skate night may be in the cards :)
The next weekend we went to a horseback riding party. Poor Ellie kind of gets stuck in the corner at parties (of course, someone always picks her up and entertains/is entertained), so she and Daddy had some special bonding/nap time while I took John and Eve to this one. They LOVED it!

John was so excited to ride and did a great job! That's certainly not a fake smile just for the camera.

Eve enjoyed it and talked about it for days, but was very serious while she was on the horse. She went for a second ride, so I don't think she was scared...just very focussed.

They had chickens and roosters to pet. John really enjoyed this, but Eve wasn't so excited by it. She has really surprised me a lot lately. All of a sudden she seems to be becoming more fearful (not necessarily a bad thing for someone with NO fear). Things that used to be right up her alley she seems to be afraid of sometimes. She didn't want to touch the rooster (of course, I can't guarantee that doesn't have anything to do with all the horrible things we say about gamecocks). She also has become fearful during big group at church because it's "too loud" and she cries and wants to leave. She LOVED that sort of thing just a few weeks ago. She has also started screaming just before the Spiderman theme song comes on the CD. I'm not sure what's going on. Hopefully it's a short-lived phase. I suppose, though, John used to be quite fearless, but has picked up some fears as well. He, too, hates loud noise, which surprises me as much as they love to scream.
Anyway, back to the party...they also got to pet/groom the horses, which was a lot of fun.

Eve liked the hat she decorated at the party so much, she wore it to church the next day :)

Back to "life is a party". I was trying to get a picture of her bed head, but I got so much more in this one. I'd say this picture best describes Eve's personality.

And, at this point, this picture best describes Ellie's. She's not rolling over yet, but she can get to her side and is no longer safe on the couch unattended. John likes to pick her up into his lap when she's on the floor. It makes me a little nervous, but he's very gentle with her. Yesterday he lifted her up onto his bed! YIPES!

The doctor said she's old enough for cereal! We tried once. You can tell she loved it! She had a throw-up fit the next day (WAY more than spit-up...even for a spitter). I'm confident we didn't get enough in her for that to have caused any problems, but I'm holding off for a while anyway.

Ellie has started to enjoy raspberries. That's how I knew she was ready to start solids :) She's quite good at it, and John and Eve like to blow them back. Feeding Ellie colored food is going to be a blast!
Eventually the party has to end. One day we went to Anderson to have lunch with Daddy. I'm not sure why it was so exhausting, but as you can see, we all had a good nap afterward. Well, John was completely covered, so I couldn't get a picture of him...

The end

Oh my gosh, love the party sharing. Those must be some birthday parties, horses and roller skating at their age. What fun!!! And Ellie looks like a little happy doll.
