Mountain Adventure

During Fall Break (a few weeks ago) we were invited to spend a few days up in the NC mountains with our friends the Powells. Unfortunately Buck had to work. We missed him, but Mom came with the kids and me and we had lots of fun! It was pretty cold and windy up at the top of the mountain where we stayed, and I learned that the kids don't handle the elements well. I'm sure they get it from me. Eve actually started to panic (a little overdramatic) every time there was a gust of wind. There was an awesome game/play/craft room that was lots of fun for the kids, so we spent a lot of time there. In the afternoon we ventured out into the woods...just a bit. There was a little pond with a mill and a hike (.5 mi or less) that the kids really enjoyed.Eve, Grandma, Madelyn, and Suzie peering over the mill

John enjoyed poking a stick in the water. I just knew he'd fall in. I'm still not quite sure how he managed to stay dry, but so very glad he did!

Ellie enjoyed the fall colors

John is such a good big brother!

Everyone was being so goofy in the picture, we couldn't get Ellie to look at the camera. Who can blame her? Silly kids!

This was the view from the back porch. Breathtaking!

At night we had a campfire and ate smores. Yummy! It was such a super fun trip...if only Daddy could've come.
