Jake is 2 Months Old!

Well, Jake is actually nearing 3 months, but the holidays were crazy, then things got crazier afterward, and I just now figured out how to bypass the problem I was having uploading pictures...so here we go!

First, I love the little outfit Jake is wearing in the picture (which was taken right at 2 months...no cheating there).  I love it because I think it makes him look like a Citadel Bulldog like his Papa and middle-name-sake.  It's also a great picture because we captured a smile, which has been really difficult to do.  AND, I just noticed how happy his toes are, too, and that makes me smile.

Jake started smiling a lot and talking a bit around a week before he hit the 2 month mark.  He smiles a lot after he's just woken up and eaten.  It's so darn cute, but we have a really hard time getting good pictures.  First, because he likes to smile at faces and random shadows and such rather than cameras.  Second because his head still bobbles around a good bit (although his neck is very strong now), so we have to use a flash to keep the picture from being blurry.  Jake is NOT a fan of the flash.  I promise, though, he does like to smile, and it's super duper cute.  John, Eve, and Ellie love it when he smiles.

At 2 months Jake was 24 in (92 percentile), 13lb. 6oz. (81 percentile), and head 15.5 in. (64 percentile).  He's started gaining a lot of strength, but still lacking a lot of muscle control.  Not really grabbing for things or noticing his hands or feet yet.  At 2 months he moved into size 2 diapers and size 3-6 month clothes.  This is going WAY TOO FAST FOR ME!!!  The two nights before he turned 2 months, he slept through the night for the first time.  He took a week or so break from that, but then has slept through the night since, going at least 12 or 13 hours between eating, and sleeping from 8 or so in the evening until somewhere between 5:30 and 7ish.  Woohoo!  He's a champ.  He's such a good baby.  He hardly ever cries except when his tummy hurts, and only does that for a minute or two until he burps or spits.  He's still quite a spitter, but it doesn't seem to bother him often.  Now that we're getting closer to 3 months, he's just started to be awake a bit more and fusses a little more often for attention.  I can't blame him for that.  He needs to make himself known.

He now sleeps solely on his back, even at nap time.  It's funny because he used to have a definite preference for his tummy, but now he can't manage to get comfortable there, and often has trouble getting comfortable if we're holding him.  That makes me a little sad, but he's still a good snuggler every now and then.  Unfortunately that's giving him a little bald spot in his already sparse hair on the back of his head.

John, Eve, and Ellie still love him to pieces, well, we all do.  He is such a joy.  Such a sweet sweet blessing!
