Daddies and Daughters

Daddies and daughters are special things...especially when you put them together. Couple that with dressing up like a princess and going to the ball, well, I'll just warn you that you might need a tissue for this post. I'll also say that I was (and still am) so mesmerized by how pretty my little girl was and the sweetness of the moments that I had a hard time picking pictures...so there are lots.

So anyway, this Friday was the first Daddy Daughter dance for Buck and Eve. I thought Eve would be a little excited, but she was WAY excited! She pitched a few fits during the week because it wasn't Friday yet. She had decided she'd wear her Hello Kitty dress. I wasn't going to step in the way, but shopped the after-Easter clearance dresses and found one she was very excited about. We had to hide it until it was time for her to get dressed. Early Friday morning (sometime around 1am) Eve woke up screaming. Buck went to check on her, and I heard between sobs "I missed the dancing" ("the dancing" is what she called the daddy daughter dance). He managed to assure her that she had not missed it and calm her down. When she woke up she immediately got dressed for the dance... Finally late afternoon it was time to get ready. She dutifully stood still while I curled her hair and put in her "crown"...otherwise known as a headband (that she picked out herself).

Ta da! I told her to make a sweet face for the camera

Buck bought her a sweet daisy wrist corsage that she was very excited about.

These are the sweet unposed moments I just couldn't get enough of.

Practicing. Buck said his arms were quite sore after all the dancing (i.e. lifting) he did that night

He also bought her a little purple purse and necklace. She wore it to bed that night.

And they're off! Buck had downloaded some princess songs on his ipod so they could listen on the way. Eve was beside herself she was so excited. They had dinner at Steak and Shake, then danced the night away. I hear the princess shoes didn't last all of the first song, dancing mostly consisted of lifting her up, jumping, and chasing the disco ball around, lots of lemonade and candy were consumed, and a good bit of time was spent cleaning the rocks in the small creek beside the outdoor venue. There was a special time that they stopped the music and let the dads spend one-on-one time with their daughters and talk to them about how much they love them. I was blessed with a very special Daddy, and it makes me so very thrilled that my girls have a Daddy just as special, and that he lets them know how precious they are to him.

LOTS of tissues for all the stories. You and Stephen have very special children, Katie. Treasure these moments which I know you are as they are so fleeting.
