Since it's summer time, we have more time for fun stuff. Really, I was realizing we'd have more time for arguing and trying to decide what to do, so I tried to plan ahead with a little bit of structure. Not too much, of course. After all, it's summer! Some of my structure has fallen to the wayside since our trip, but maybe we'll get it back. It's been lots of fun. Each week we've had one day for each of the following: cooking, science experiment, craft, field trip, and letter writing. Of course we've spent lots of time at the pool as well. John and Eve have had Guppies (swim lessons/fun games) twice a week. They're both doing great in the water, and Ellie is working on being brave.
We've done some indoor pretend camping as well. One science experiment was putting Mentos into Diet Coke and making volcanoes.
The kids have enjoyed writing their letters and taking them to the mailbox.
One day we had a DOWNPOUR! Look at John's dedication to get his letter to the box before the mailman came! He ended up coming back so wet that I just suited the girls up and we decided to just play in the rain. It's not often we have a storm warm enough to play in without thunder and lightning, but there was a tropical storm coming through, and the conditions couldn't have been more perfect.
John had been wanting desperately to ride his bike in the rain. Once he had his chance, I asked if it was as fun as he thought it might be. "WAY MORE FUNNER!" He loved riding through the puddles.
We all had a great time splashing.
