I like the "You might be a Buckingham if..." Can't remember which friend suggested it, but I think I'll stick with it a while. So, here's my next installment.
Earlier this week Eve said she needed to go to the bathroom during "nap" time. I walked upstairs as she was walking out back to her room (note that she says this all the time, and lots of times it's to play in the bathroom or just escape her room). Her hair was wet. I said, "Eve, what did you do to your hair?" Her very matter-of-fact response, "I put it in the potty." Mind you, there's no guarantee that toilet was flushed previously. At that moment nap time became bath time.
Today I wanted to let John choose what we'd do today, either go to the zoo or play at home. I knew if I mentioned the zoo, the girls would be all for it and get excited, but I had a hunch that John would choose home. To prevent fits, I told John I wanted to have a private conversation with him and asked Eve to go into the kitchen while we talked. I asked him, and as I suspected he chose to stay home. I told Eve, "You can come back in. We're finished with our private conversation." John looked confused and asked, "Why was that a private conversation? We didn't even talk about our privates." A vocabulary lesson followed.
