The weekend before Valentine's Day, our hearts sunk. For 2 or 3 days I panicked. We found out that the Daddy Daughter Dance that our church hosts, which Eve has been to and talks about daily, and Ellie has never been to but has been anticipating her first chance to go for a year now, is scheduled during the time Buck will be in Kenya. NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! I looked online for any other dances, and it just so happens that everyone else hosts their Daddy Daughter Dance the weekend before Valentine's Day. NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Buck felt like there was no other chance, but to host his own Daddy Daughter Dance. He found a place, organized the whole thing, got volunteers to help DJ, setup, etc., and he invited the other dads going to Kenya as well as several other friends. He put a LOT of work into it. I hope one day Eve and Ellie will be able to read this and understand just how special they are to their Daddy. We didn't get a whole lot of pictures because it turns out when you're organizing the whole thing, things get a little hectic the day of. Eve was excited to let me fix her hair pretty for the dance, although she's not a big fan of the hair dryer. Ellie was a different story, but she survived. They looked adorable in their little dresses and shoes. They were thrilled to get to surprise Daddy with a rose each for his lapel.

Eve has been through this before, so she knows the drill of taking pictures, and knew what to expect when we told her to close her eyes for a surprise.
Ellie had no idea what was coming, but she was dutiful in not peeping.
Eve was thrilled to get her corsage.
Ellie not so much, but she wore it for a few seconds.
I found out that even when everyone is happy, it's still nearly impossible to get a good picture of all three. Even when one has their eyes closed, or a funny face, so many of the pictures are still so sweet.
Who loves Daddy?
What a special moment. When all was said and done, they had a fun dinner at Red Robin, fabulous dancing, and lots of chocolate and candy (that I had to scour the internet to successfully remove from their dresses before Easter). They had such a wonderful time. I know all three will cherish the evening for years to come.

And not to be outdone, John and I had some fun for ourselves! We had a very grown-up date at Mimi's steakhouse, his first such experience. He loved it, and ate a bit of almost everything (including shrimp) until he was full! He's getting to such a fun age where we can start doing some things like this, and I am enjoyin it so much. And Jake had a date night with Grandma. I'd say we all enjoyed our evening.
