January - Life Indoors

Over the past few months we've been letting John stay up late every now and then to work on a project or do something special with just him and Mom or Dad. He got a "model" set of sorts for Christmas to paint and assemble a racecar, airplane, bird house, and bird feeder. Recently he worked on painting the car and the plane.
He paints (and does just about everything) with his tongue.
I love that he still has sweet little hands.

He worked very hard on this. Hopefully soon we'll be able to assemble them and post pictures. Unfortunately we lost the directions somewhere in the Christmas shuffle. I think that'll be a Daddy and John project. John and I have also been reading out of chapter books lately. We just finished The Boxcar Children and are starting one from the Magic Treehouse series about a dragon. He really enjoys it. He doesn't always pay close attention, but he loves the time spent together, and comprehends and retains way more than I would think. He pays attention more than we realize.

Eve was taking her baby and kitty cat (in the handbag) to the grocery store. Looks like she picked up some cookies there.

This picture makes me melt a little.

Ellie is 8 months now! Where has the time gone???

You'd think from this picture that she's crawling like a champ. Not yet. She's oh so close! She's been eating like crazy lately, so maybe that chubby belly is holding her back. We keep cheering her on, then I always sit back and ask myself, "why am I encouraging this?" It's sure to be chaotic, but there's still something inside that wants to see her do it.
